Friends Designer Competition
A new competition has been launched through the Lego Facebook page to become the next Friends designer!
Do you have a budding LEGO designer between the ages of 6 and 12? Then stay tuned as we're launching the biggest LEGO Friends building contest ever!
The winner gets a chance to bring the whole family to the LEGO headquarters in Denmark, work with LEGO designers for a week, turn their creation into a real LEGO playset, and to turn themselves into a Friends mini-doll! Watch out for this great comp in 2017!
The competition opened December 26 and will run until February 28 next year. You can also use LDD in this competition so if you're currently short on bricks, LDD has an unlimited supply of them.
Once the competition closes, the judges ( I suppose the Friends design team) will assess you model in four stages.
Appeal and relevance - 40%
How relevant is the model for girls 6-10 years old?
How relevant is the model for the Lego Friends theme?
Will the model deliver on the targeted audience's play expectations?
Originality and Innovation - 20%
How much newness does the model bring to Lego Friends?
Aesthetically pleasing design - 20%
How aesthetically pleasing is the design in terms of visual impact and colour scheme?
Design details - 20%
The little things are important too.
You will know on March 13 if you have made it through with 20 other semifinalists. On March 15, only 10 finalists will remain and on the 17th of March, the winner will be announced.
Rewards (The most interesting part!)
If you don't come first, it's because there are entries that suit the competition better but you may have been a finalist....
If you are one of the 20 semifinalists, you win 1 Friends set for yourself and 1 for you best friend. Each set is valued at $69.99/€69.99.
The 10 finalists will win 1 of each 2017 friends set produced, valued at roughly $790/€790.
Rewards will be sent out once the grand prize winner has been announced and once the 2017 product assortment has been released (which is already starting to happen). They will receive a 1 week trip for her/his family to Billund, Denmark. The grand prize will cover airfare for a maximum of 2 children (including the Winner) and 2 adults, at least one of which must be a parent or legal guardian of the Winner, in tourist or economy class, which must be taken from March 27, 2017 to April 1, 2017. During the experience, the winner’s family will stay at Hotel LEGOLAND ® (one family-size room, quad occupancy with value 11000 DKK (approximately €1478/$1635) and will be provided with a behind the scenes tour to visit LEGOLAND® Park in Billund-Denmark during their stay that values 1500 DKK (approximately €201,57/$223,08). Additionally, the Winner’s family will receive 9000 DKK (approximately €1209/ $1338) to cover food and miscellaneous expenses during their stay and will be granted with a rental car with an average value of 3000 DKK (approximately €134,38/ $148,72) plus a voucher to cover gas costs up to 1000 DKK (approximately €201,57/$223,08).
